Sim Hinman Wan teaches and researches the history of architecture, with primary interest in the early modern period’s transcultural developments. His work on the Dutch and Chinese building of philanthropic establishments at seventeenth-century Indonesian port cities has received awards from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation that recognise international and interdisciplinary scholarship. He was previously lecturer at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and the University of Washington.
